It’s Already July!
Summer, summer, summer!
Sand volleyball, park hangouts, Levitt concerts, run club, and more! Our summer programming has continued in full swing, and with that, we are blessed to see young adults get connected to genuine community. At tre, we are always talking about building friendships and relationships that point one another to Christ, and good news — it’s happening!
As a staff, we know stepping into community takes vulnerability and effort. Often times it is much easier said than done — we may believe that we need support from others, or we understand and see that we are missing relationships that hold us accountable — but to walk into a new place and build new friendships is hard to do. It takes boldness, courage, and faith! And yet, we get to celebrate and praise the Lord that this is exactly what is happening here at tre! Here are just a few ways we have seen it this summer:
New Faces. Young adults are reaching out to staff and friends, wondering what tre is and how they can get connected, and are being vulnerable and courageous to show up! Men’s Group, Sand Volleyball, Young Adult Hangouts, Upper20s — we are so grateful to be able to connect with new faces this summer.
Familiar Faces. This summer, we have seen multiple young adults go deeper in their faith and take community seriously. There is a stirring in this generation to find true connection with others, and we are honored to be able to provide a space for people to grow closer with the Lord as they walk through life with their peers and friends!
missions continue!
If June meant traveling to Dallas, July and August both mean staying home and continuing the mission work here in Sioux Falls! We are so excited to continue the summer missions season, kicking off with the youth group from First Baptist Parker on July 16th. As the summer continues, we will also be partnering with Lord of Life the first week of August! Stay tuned on social media to see all that we are up to during these weeks — including worship nights, block parties, and full days of serving and caring for people in our city!
As Sandy Berven puts it, "There is something so special about serving in your own city. It opens your eyes to a lot of things happening right around you, and makes you feel connected and a part of it.”
a note from sandy
What do you want people to know about tre Ministries? I want people to know that we are continually looking forward to the future of tre. We are constantly asking ourselves the needs of young adults and the needs of the city that we are in…our neighbors, our city itself. And we are continuing to look for opportunities to partner and work with the city of Sioux Falls to build it up to an even more beautiful place. As a ministry, we are committed to saying yes to the things God is calling us to — and we love to collaborate with others when events or programs align with our mission and vision. Amazing things are coming, and we could not be more excited!
our prayer
Father, thank you for cultivating genuine relationships. Thank you for giving courage and boldness to young adults to pursue the life you have called them to. We pray for continued focus as young adults reach the halfway point of their summer. Let our eyes be fixed on you and your presence. Allow us to be intentional with those around us, that our lives may be a testament to the gospel. Give us wisdom and discernment, and build within our hearts love and care for those you place in our path. In Jesus’ name!
