read one devotional a week from the escape equip empower series
Description:
How do you escape?
How do you find a place to breathe when the world is suffocating you with the idea that you must be "successful"?
The reality is, we are all escaping from something.
"Pick yourself up by your bootstraps"
"Time=money"
"Money=Freedom"
"Success isn't given it's earned"
"The world owes you nothing"
If you are anything like the people around you there is no question you have heard these phrases hundreds of times. But let me ask, what do they mean to you?
Noise often looks like the horn of an angry driver or the yelling of a sports fanatic. But have you ever considered that the noises that affect us most are the quiet sayings in between breaths?
The noises we remember vividly are the words uttered to us in times of vulnerability.
Normal,
A word often used but hard to define.
A word used to conform people toward a desired action.
A word, that honestly shouldn't even exist.
Think about this for a second,
Who defines "normal"?
What is the standard of "normal"?
And how does one become "normal"?
Description:
By definition to equip means- "to provide someone with what they need to fulfill their purpose." But not just any purpose, a God-given purpose. A purpose that is much greater than anything you could have ever asked or imagine.
What if you were told that being equipped has nothing to do with a resume or cover letter? What if you were told all it takes to be equipped is to simply say "yes"?
Confidence.
Something everyone aspires to have but no one knows how to fully maintain.
We all have spurts of confidence, and spurts of doubt but what if you were told that confidence isn't built in how you think of yourself but instead in how you think of God.
Through the first two days, you have learned what it means to be equipped in your calling and your confidence but what now? When you have received your calling, and you are confident in who God has called you to be, what do you do with it all?
How has God equipped you during this time?
What is He calling you to do?
How will you use His confidence to equip you're calling?
Description:
Empowerment comes in all different shapes and sizes but it's a word that, if understood, could change your life forever.
People often think to empower someone, is to give them a bigger title or more responsibility. But what if I told you that empowerment wasn't about privilege but instead about influence?
be more positive than ever before.
But if you have paid attention to the news in the past few years you would certainly know that to be false. The world is more at war with itself than ever. The reality is, there is more depression, anxiety, and anger than ever before and it seems to only be getting worse.
"ME! ME! ME! ME!
Something the world shouts to the mountains only to hear an echo return void.
Today and every day we are reminded that the world is inherently selfish. That everyone is responsible for their well-being and that if you're not doing well it's not our problem.
Every person on planet earth can agree we all want to be part of something bigger than ourselves. We all want to find our purpose in this world and make a difference for the better. The struggle of today's world is the options are abundant and they often distract you from the purpose that God has for you.
How has God empowered you during this time?
How are you using this empowerment for others?
How will you use your influence to share the gospel?
What does normal look like to you in this time?
How can you change your normal to realign with Gods calling?
What are you escaping from and are you using this to run to Jesus?
